عن اللعبة

Janggi (Korean chess) in 3D: octagonal carved pieces, a palace board, twelve animal opponents in hanbok, four computer levels, machine-composed checkmate puzzles, a guided tutorial and a game review.

Janggi (장기), Korean chess, is played on the points of a nine-by-ten board. Each general lives in a palace with diagonal lines, cannons must jump to move or capture, and there is no river. This edition seats you at a hanok pavilion table with octagonal carved pieces sized by rank: the general is the largest, and the Cho (green) and Han (red) hanja are deeply cut into the wood.

Before each game both sides choose a set-up (sangcharim) for the elephants and horses, then Cho moves first. Pass when you want to wait (한수쉼), call bikjang when the generals face each other, and win by checkmate or on the count. Every rule that clubs disagree on is a switch on the Rules screen.

Climb the Ladder through twelve animal opponents in hanbok, from Dalto the Moon Rabbit to Master Horangi the tiger. Four computer levels play by the same rules you do. Hints explain the move, undo is there for solo play, and the review marks every move.

Learn from scratch with twelve interactive lessons, and test yourself with machine-composed checkmate puzzles (each has exactly one winning first move; they are not classical named endings). Orbit, pan and zoom the camera, or tap Full board to see the whole board. Twelve languages with Korean first, controller and keyboard support, and it all runs offline.

طريقة اللعب

  1. Checkmate the enemy general. If neither general is trapped, the game is counted (see Counting).
  2. Nine files by ten ranks of points; pieces stand on the crossings. There is no river. Each side has a palace of nine points with diagonal lines.
  3. The general and the two guards never leave the palace. They step one point along a line, diagonals included. A general may not step into check.
  4. The chariot slides in straight lines, and along the diagonals inside a palace. The horse moves one straight and one diagonal; a piece on the straight step blocks it. The elephant moves one straight and two diagonal; a piece on either point on the way blocks it.
  5. The cannon moves and captures only by jumping over exactly one piece. It cannot jump over a cannon and cannot capture a cannon. Inside a palace it may jump along a diagonal over the centre point.
  6. A soldier steps forward or sideways, never backward. Inside the enemy palace it may also step diagonally forward.
