About the game

Drive a careful cab down a busy street: dodge pets and clutter, stop on red, and pick up fares against the clock.

Puddle Cab is a sunny-street driving game about being a very careful cab. Your taxi rolls forward on its own; you steer between the lanes, brake for red lights, and honk to shoo the neighbourhood pets safely out of the road. Dogs, cats, ducks and their ducklings wander across the street. Bins, cones, benches, traffic cones, runaway shopping carts and the occasional flying ball get in the way, and one or two drivers ahead are not paying the slightest attention.

Travellers with suitcases wave from yellow taxi bays. Stop in the bay to pick one up, then stop in the chequered bay down the street before their clock runs out. Every metre scores, and each fare delivered in a row makes every metre worth more; a bump, a red light or a lost fare puts it back to the start. Cross a stop line on red and a whistle blows: that costs one of your three chances, the same as bumping into something.

The further you drive, the faster and busier the street gets, and it never stops getting harder. Traffic queues at the lights, nudges stray cones aside and never drives through anything; nothing is ever hurt, and a bump is a comic spin-out. The game comes as a single file in eleven languages, and plays with touch or a game controller.

How to play

1. It rolls forward on its own. Your job is to steer, brake and honk.
2. Hold the brake and stop before the white line. Rolling through a red light costs a life.
3. A honk sends dogs, cats and ducks scurrying off the road, and wakes up sleepy drivers.
4. A bump costs one life for the whole drive. Nobody gets hurt — the cab just spins and sets off again.
5. Stop in a yellow bay for a fare, then in the chequered bay in time. Each fare in a row raises your points per metre.
