Về trò chơi

Cờ tướng, Vietnamese xiangqi, in 3D at a pavement café: Hán-Nôm or Vietnamese-letter pieces, twelve animal opponents from Sa Pa to Thăng Long, four levels, chấp handicap games, cờ thế puzzles, a guided tutorial and game review.

Cờ tướng is Vietnam's street game of generals, chariots, horses and cannons. Play it at a pavement café table with a glass of cà phê sữa đá at your elbow and paper lanterns overhead, with jackfruit-wood discs carved in Hán-Nôm characters, in Vietnamese letters (Tướng, Sĩ, Tượng, Mã, Xe, Pháo, Tốt), or with an animal set.

Climb the Ladder through twelve animal opponents from Sa Pa to Thăng Long, each with a name, a personality and things to say. Four computer levels see exactly what you see. Quick games offer a clock, take-backs, hints that explain the move, and chấp: starting a horse, cannon, chariot or soldier down, as street players do. The rules switches are the ones café players argue about: federation or street rules for perpetual check, and touch-move.

Learn with twelve short interactive lessons, including how to read notation like Pháo 2 bình 5. Test yourself with cờ thế puzzles: machine-composed positions that the solver proved have exactly one winning first move (they are not the classical named cờ thế). Review your game move by move. Orbit, pan and zoom, or tap Full board. Twelve languages with Vietnamese first, controller and keyboard support, fully offline.

Cách chơi

  1. Capture the enemy general: checkmate. A player with no legal move also loses.
  2. 9 lines by 10, pieces on the crossings. The river splits the board. Each side has a palace of nine points.
  3. The general and the two advisors never leave the palace. The general steps along lines, advisors step diagonally.
  4. Elephants jump two diagonally and never cross the river; a piece on the middle point blocks them. Horses move straight then diagonal; a piece next to the horse in the straight direction blocks it.
  5. Chariots slide like rooks. Cannons slide the same way but capture only by jumping over exactly one piece.
  6. A soldier steps forward. After crossing the river it may also step sideways. It never moves backward.

  • A cờ thế puzzle, mate in 1: green rings mark the winning move on the board.
