China's favourite card game in 3D: team up with an animal partner, play bombs, plates and straight flushes with a wild heart, pay tribute, and climb from level 2 to A against three levels of AI.

Guandan (掼蛋) is the climbing card game that took over Chinese living rooms and tea houses: four players in two partnerships, two decks plus jokers, 27 cards each. You sit opposite your animal partner and race the other pair to empty your hands. Each deal has a level; the cards of that level beat the Ace, and the heart of the level rank is the wild card that can stand for anything but a joker. Sit down in a sunny tea house with a giant panda, a koala, a golden snub-nosed monkey, a tiger and other cuddly animals.

The rules follow the usual Chinese table: singles, pairs, triples, triples with a pair, straights, wooden plates, steel plates, bombs of four to eight cards, straight flushes and the four-joker bomb. The order you finish in decides how far your team moves up: first and second together climb three levels. From the second deal on there is tribute and return tribute, and holding both big jokers cancels it. Win a deal at level A with your partner not last to win the match. The Rules screen has a switch for every point where tables differ. Four computer levels that count cards and play for their partners, hints that say why, a combo helper, a card counter, a wild-card chooser when your cards can be read two ways, a nine-lesson tutorial played on real deals, and a twelve-stage Grand Canal ladder through Chinese cities. Every card lies flat on the felt, and your whole hand of 27 always fits the screen, in two rows on a wide screen and three rows on a phone held upright; zoom and slide the view freely or jump to the full table in one tap. Twelve languages (Simplified Chinese by default on Chinese devices), touch, keyboard and controller, no network. Points only: no money, no stakes.

1. Four players, two partnerships: you and the animal across the table against the other two. Each gets 27 cards from two decks plus jokers. Go out of cards before the other side does.
2. Every deal has a level, from 2 up to A. The level rank beats the Ace and loses only to the jokers. The heart of the level rank is the wild card: it can stand for any card except a joker.
3. Single, pair, three of a kind, three with a pair, straight of five, wooden plate (three pairs in a row), steel plate (two triples in a row), bomb and straight flush. Answer with the same kind and more, or with a bomb.
4. Four to eight of a rank beat everything that is not a bomb. From low to high: four, five, straight flush, six, seven, eight, and the four jokers beat all.
5. After the first deal the last player pays the first his biggest card (never the wild card) and gets a small one back. If both opponents were last, both pay. Holding both big jokers cancels the tribute.
