About the game
Fly an anti-gravity racer round a banked spiral circuit. Hold the throttle, ride the air brakes through the hairpins, and beat your own lap.
Ion Drift is a free-flight anti-gravity racer built around one continuous circuit — the Skyline Spiral, a closed curve nineteen thousand units long that climbs, banks and folds back over itself without ever crossing. The ship has a heading rather than a rail position, so steering turns it and it then travels along its own facing: slow is tight, fast runs wide, and the tightest corners genuinely cannot be taken without the air brakes. Banking is baked into the road surface, so a banked corner tilts the ship physically rather than by a cosmetic rule.
Contact with the wall shoves you rather than stopping you, and the shove decays over the frames that follow. Run off the road entirely and there is nothing underneath — you fall. Boost pads are painted into the circuit, and checkpoints keep the clock alive.
Built for in-flight entertainment: one self-contained file, no network of any kind, and full gamepad support alongside touch and keyboard.
How to play
- Hold the throttle. Steering turns the ship, and the faster you go the wider you run — so lift or brake before the tight corners.
- Cross a glowing boost pad for a burst of speed. Clip a guard rail and your shield drops; empty shield ends the run.
- Three laps, checkpoints on the way round. Your best total time is saved as your record.
- Five rival ships race you from the grid. Win and you move up a grade: the field gets quicker and every wall scrape costs more shield.
Controls
| Touch | Hold the right side to accelerate; steer with the stick on the left. Push the stick to full lock and the air brake on that side engages, pivoting you hard into the corner. |
|---|---|
| Keyboard | Up arrow or W accelerates, Down or S brakes, Left/Right or A/D steer, Q or Z and E or C work the left and right air brakes, Y resets the ship and Esc pauses. |
| Gamepad | Right trigger or A accelerates, left trigger brakes, left stick or D-pad steers, LB and RB are the air brakes, B pauses, Y resets the ship and Start or X quits to the menu. |
