Về trò chơi

Xiangqi (Chinese Chess) in 3D: carved wooden pieces on a lacquered board, twelve animal opponents on a ladder, four computer levels, 42 endgame puzzles, a guided tutorial and a move-by-move game review.

Xiangqi (象棋), Chinese Chess, is the great strategy game of generals, chariots, horses and cannons. Play it on a lacquered board at a lantern-lit Taiwanese tea-house table, with turned wooden pieces whose characters are deeply carved and painted, or switch to the animal set, where a bear king, fox advisors, elephants, horses, buffalo, hamster cannons and rabbit soldiers take the field.

Climb the Ladder through twelve animal opponents, from Pip the Koala to Master Lion. Each has a name, a personality and a few things to say, and each win earns stars and unlocks new piece sets, boards and animals to play as. Four computer levels (Rookie, Regular, Expert, Master) see exactly what you see, and the Master thinks within a time limit so it stays quick on a seatback screen. Quick games offer a clock, optional take-backs and hints that explain the move.

Learn from scratch with ten short interactive lessons: the board, the palace, elephants, horses, chariots, the cannon screen, soldiers and the river, the flying general, check and checkmate, then a coached first game. Test yourself with 42 endgame puzzles: machine-composed positions that the solver has proved have exactly one winning first move (they are not the classical named endings). After a game, Review marks every move as best, inaccuracy, mistake or blunder and shows the better move and why.

Orbit, pan and zoom the camera, turn or move the board, face it toward you or show the whole table in one tap. Moves are written in Chinese or WXF notation. Twelve languages including Traditional Chinese, controller and keyboard support, and it all runs offline in one file.

Cách chơi

  1. Capture the enemy general: checkmate. A player with no legal move also loses.
  2. 9 lines by 10, pieces on the crossings. The river splits the board. Each side has a palace of nine points.
  3. The general and the two advisors never leave the palace. The general steps along lines, advisors step diagonally.
  4. Elephants jump two diagonally and never cross the river; a piece on the middle point blocks them. Horses move straight then diagonal; a piece next to the horse in the straight direction blocks it.
  5. Chariots slide like rooks. Cannons slide the same way but capture only by jumping over exactly one piece.
  6. A soldier steps forward. After crossing the river it may also step sideways. It never moves backward.
