About the game

Ludo, the Indian family favourite, and Pachisi, the royal game of cowrie shells, in 3D: race cute animal rivals home with four levels of AI, a ladder through eight Indian cities, house rules, hands-on lessons and 17 languages.

Ludo (लूडो) is the board game almost every Indian family has played: throw the die, bring your four tokens out with a six, run once round the cross, up your coloured lane and home with an exact throw, and send any rival you land on back to its yard. Pachisi (पचीसी), its royal ancestor, is played on an embroidered cross of cloth with six cowrie shells for dice. Ludo India has both, in one hand-made 3D courtyard.

Switch on the house rules your family argues about: three sixes lose the turn, blocks, must-capture, three tries for a six, and 2 v 2 team play. Play a Quick Game or climb the ladder of eight Indian cities, each with an animal rival who talks back. Four levels of opponent make real choices, a hint says why, and any game can be replayed from its seeded dice.

Fourteen short lessons teach both games with real taps. The default view shows the whole board, with free zoom, pan and orbit, and the game fits a portrait phone. Seventeen languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Marathi; it runs offline in one file.

How to play

  1. This is your yard. Your four tokens wait here. The glowing square is your start square.
  2. To leave the yard you need a six. Tap Roll, or tap the die.
  3. Tap the glowing token to move it the number you rolled.
  4. Gold stars and the four start squares are safe. Nobody can capture you there.
  5. A six gives you another throw. Roll.
  6. Too big, so the token stays. Roll again.
