About the game

Ranks of moths come down the night sky, drawn to your lantern. Fire motes of light, spend four glass shields carefully, and hold the line.

You keep the last lamp on a night ridge. Moths descend in ranks, and the closer they get the faster they move — thin the rank and the survivors come on quicker. Fire motes of light to puff them back into the dark, and watch the lowest moth in every column, because that is the one that sheds dust at you.

Four panes of lantern glass stand between you and the sky. They chip away from either side, from your own motes as much as from theirs, so they are a resource rather than cover. A firefly drifts across the top now and then for a mystery bonus.

Clear a rank and a lower, quicker one takes its place. The run ends when a moth reaches the lantern line, or when your last keeper is spent.

Plays entirely offline, in either orientation, with touch, keyboard or a gamepad. A Formation Editor lets you build the rank you want to face.

How to play

  1. Moths come down the sky in ranks, drawn to your lantern. Fire motes of light to puff them back into the dark.
  2. The fewer moths are left, the faster the rank moves. Clear them all and a lower, quicker rank takes its place.
  3. Four glass panes shield you. They chip away from either side, so spend them carefully.
  4. The run ends when a moth reaches the lantern line, or your last keeper is spent.
  5. Ember moths dive at you: double points in flight. Hawk moths take two hits. Every fifth wave brings an Atlas moth.
  6. Hit the firefly and catch its spark. Hits in a row build a chain up to ×5; a miss breaks it.
