About the game
Taiwan-style 16-tile mahjong in 3D: draw, discard, chi, pon, kong and win against four levels of cute animal opponents, or at a table with up to three friends, with å° scoring, flowers, a night-market ladder and a hands-on tutorial.
Taiwan Mahjong (å°ç£éº»å°‡) is the sixteen-tile game played around kitchen tables and teahouses across Taiwan: build five sets and a pair out of seventeen tiles, call a discard when it fits, collect flower tiles, and count your å°. Sit at a lantern-lit table with bone-and-bamboo tiles, a jade-green felt and three animal opponents: a Formosan black bear, a red fox, a sika deer, a koala, a Shiba pup, a cat, a rabbit, a red panda, a pig and a lion cub. Each has a name, a personality and plenty to say.
The rules follow common Taiwan table practice: 莊家 and 連莊, åƒ ç¢° 槓 胡 with the usual priority, 自摸 and 放æ§, 花牌 and 補花, 門清, 䏿±‚人, 碰碰胡, 清一色, 大三元 and more, with a line-by-line å° breakdown after every win. Choose a single hand, an East round, a half game or a full game, and change the table rules (å° cap, 一炮多響, éŽæ°´, 一槓一 and others) on the Rules screen. Play with friends: open a table, share the code, and up to four people sit down together; the animals play any empty seat, a clock keeps the game moving and a dropped connection gets your seat back. Four computer levels (Rookie, Regular, Expert, Master) look at the table exactly the way you do; a hint button explains its suggestion, a Waiting sign shows what you are listening for, and undo is there when you want it. Points only: no money, no stakes.
The Night Market Ladder is a twelve-stage climb through Shilin, Tamsui, Jiufen and Kenting with three stars a stage, and unlocks new animals, table felts and tile backs. A six-lesson interactive tutorial teaches sets and the pair, drawing and discarding, claiming, winning, flowers and scoring on the real table. Pick the seat view, an overhead view, a table-corner view or a close-up, then orbit, pan and zoom freely or turn the table itself. Twelve languages (Traditional Chinese by default on Taiwan devices), touch, keyboard and controller support, and it plays fully offline on its own.
How to play
- Build a hand of five sets and a pair (17 tiles). A set is three alike or a run of three in one suit.
- Draw a tile, then discard one. Tap a tile to select it and tap it again to discard.
- When someone discards a tile you can use, press Pon for three alike, Kong for four, or Chi for a run (only from the player before you).
- Complete your hand by drawing (self-draw) or by claiming a discard (win). A win beats a Pon, which beats a Chi.
- Flower tiles go aside and are replaced. The flower matching your seat scores 1 tai.
- A win scores tai for dealer, concealed hand, self-draw, wind and dragon sets, one-suit hands and more. Points only.
