Half-court basketball, three against three, played as a real game in 3D: pass, drive, shoot and defend with one finger. A 35-level Tour on five courts, a Cup, and an endless Gauntlet.

Basketball is three against three at one basket: a 12-second shot clock, one point inside the arc and two behind it, first to 21. You are the player with the ball, and on defence the man guarding it.

Everything is one finger. Swipe up to shoot, and let go as the ball reaches the top of the shot. Swipe toward a team-mate, or tap him, to pass. Swipe up and across to drive past your man, sideways to change hands, down for a pump fake, and tap the floor to call a screen. On defence your player stays between his man and the basket by himself: swipe up to jump with the shooter, sideways to reach for the ball. A look meter tells you how good your shot is, and a green ring shows the open man. Good shots and ball movement win; hurried shots, passes through defenders and reaching through a body do not.

The Tour is 35 levels on five courts - a fenced city court with a chain net and a double ring, a school gym with a floor that squeaks, a slab by the sea in the wind, a rooftop at night, and a full arena - mixing games against named sides with drills: finishing at the basket, shooting off a close-out, the two-man game, getting stops, free throws with everybody watching, and a comeback with ninety seconds left. Three stars a level. Then the Cup, a knockout of eight, and the Gauntlet: winner stays on, against sides that never stop getting better.

Underneath is a real ball: a dribble that bounces under the hand, shots that rattle round the ring and drop or spin out, a board, a net that swishes, wind outdoors. The players are full 3D people who slide on defence, drive, lay the ball up off the right foot, set screens and go for rebounds, and the computer's sides choose their shots the way players of each standard do.

Five camera views including one from behind your player, separate Music and Sound switches, portrait or landscape, eleven languages, touch, mouse, keyboard or gamepad. One self-contained file with no network requests, so it plays offline at 38,000 feet.

1. The game. Three against three at one basket. A basket from inside the arc is 1, from behind it 2, a free throw 1. First to 21 wins, or whoever leads after ten minutes. You have 12 seconds to shoot. When the ball changes sides it must be taken out past the arc before that side may score.
2. You are the player with the ball, and on defence the man guarding it. A ring on the floor and a mark over his head show who.
3. Shoot: swipe up. Keep your finger down and let go as the ball reaches the top of the shot; a quick flick shoots too, a little less truly. Close to the basket it is a lay-up.
4. Pass: swipe toward a team-mate, or tap him. A green ring means he is open.
5. Drive: swipe up and across to go past your man on that side. Swipe sideways to change hands. Swipe down for a pump fake. Tap the floor to call a screen.
6. Defend: your man stays between his man and the basket by himself. Swipe up to jump when the shooter leaves the floor, not before: a fake will send you past him. Swipe sideways to reach for the ball; reach through him and it is a foul. Tap a team-mate to become him.
7. Rebounds: swipe up to go and get it.
8. What wins. The look meter shows how good your shot is. Open shots near the basket and open twos win games; hurried shots with a hand in your face do not. A team's seventh foul and after is two free throws.
9. Keys: arrows or WASD move, Space shoot or jump, E pass, Q drive or reach, F fake, R switch, X screen, C camera, N music, M sound, Esc pause. A gamepad works too.
