About the game
Taiwanese 16-tile mahjong on a real 3D table. Five sets and a pair, three opponents, and a tai tally that pays out the way a real table does.
Mahjong 16 is Taiwanese mahjong, played the way it is played in Taipei: sixteen tiles in hand, five sets plus one pair to win, and settlement in tai over a base. Win on a discard and that player pays alone; win on your own draw and all three pay in full, which is why a self-draw is worth three times as much. The full claim structure is here - chow from the player on your left only, pung and kong from anyone, robbing the kong, concealed and added kongs, flower replacement from the tail of the wall, and the passed-water lockout that punishes declining a tile you could have won on. The table is rendered in genuine 3D on the device, with no engine and no downloads. Table Rules lets you set the base and per-tai value, the minimum tai to win, dead wall size, flower scoring, opponent skill and the passed-water rule. Everything runs offline.
How to play
- A winning hand is five sets plus one pair. A set is three in a row, three of a kind, or four of a kind.
- You hold sixteen tiles. Draw one, then discard one, until someone completes a hand.
- Chow (a run) can only be claimed from the player on your left. Pung and Kong can be claimed from anyone. A win beats a pung, and a pung beats a chow.
- Decline a tile you could have won on and you are locked out of winning until your next draw. This is called passed water.
- Win on a discard and that player pays alone. Win on your own draw and all three pay in full — which is why a self-draw is worth three times as much.
- Your score is the running total across the session. Your best session is saved.
