About the game
Real 3D tennis with an arcade Tour: 30 levels across five stadiums on hard court, clay and grass, an endless Gauntlet, and players who read the ball like people do.
Airporio Tennis is 3D tennis you play with one finger. Flick the swing pad to hit: up for topspin, down for slice, gently for a drop shot, hard for a winner. Your player runs to the ball for you; timing is everything.
The Tour takes you through five stadiums - harbour hard courts, red clay, grass, a night arena and a stadium at 1,800 m - in 30 levels: ball-machine challenges with glowing targets (deep corners, returns of serve, volleys, drop shots, smashes, serve targets) and matches against named opponents, each venue ending with its champion. Earn up to three stars a level. Then the Gauntlet: tiebreak after tiebreak against stronger and stronger opponents, three lives, no ceiling.
Arcade extras - combos, bonus targets and a super shot earned by perfect timing - sit on top of real tennis: ITF scoring with deuce, tiebreaks and sets, faults, lets and double faults, and a ball flown with real drag and spin that bounces differently on clay, hard court and grass. Opponents from beginner to touring pro misjudge the ball and choose their shots the way players at that level do.
Quick match (singles or doubles), a knockout Cup, practice drills, five camera views including one from behind your player, replays in slow motion, and a coach's notes after every match. One self-contained file with no network requests, so it plays offline at 38,000 feet.
How to play
- Tennis: win points to win games (15, 30, 40, game; at 40–40 it is deuce and you need two points in a row), win games to win sets. At 6–6 a tiebreak decides the set. Short formats play to fewer games.
- Serve from behind the baseline, diagonally into the service box. Miss and it is a fault: you get a second serve. Miss both and it is a double fault. A serve that clips the net and lands in is a let, played again.
- Swing the racket. The right stick is your racket hand (on a touch screen, flick the swing pad; with a mouse, drag on it and let go; on a keyboard, the arrow keys). There are no shot buttons: the swing decides the shot.
- Timing is everything: swing so the racket meets the ball as it reaches you. Early pulls it across, late pushes it wide, and both cost pace. A full, flat swing can sail long; brush up and the topspin brings it down.
- Arcade extras: perfect timing fills the zone meter; when it is full your next stroke is a super shot. Land a ball in a glowing target for bonus points, and win points in a row for a combo.
- Moving: your player runs to the ball for you. To move yourself, set Movement in Settings to Auto + stick or Left stick, then use the left stick, the move pad or W A S D.
- Camera: the camera button (or C) cycles broadcast, behind your player, first person, side and overhead views.
