About the game
Olympic-style bobsled, made into an arcade. Sprint the push in rhythm, load at the beam, and ride the banked walls of six ice tracks: 42 levels, ghost races, an endless Gauntlet and four-heat championships.
Bobsled is an original Airporio sports game: two-man and four-man bobsleigh on real-shaped ice tracks, built to the IBSF heat rules and turned into an arcade.
Tap in time with the crew's footsteps to push; two taps in one stride is a stumble. Tap again in the load zone to jump in: between 48 and 52 metres is a perfect load. Then drag left or right to steer. In every curve the sled swings up the outer wall until the banking holds it, exactly as the physics says it should, and the skill is anticipating each entry and exit so it rides the line instead of swinging. Every steering input and every sideways skid costs speed; clean curves build Flow, and hitting the lip hard rolls the sled for a DNF.
World Tour: 42 levels across six invented tracks - Pine Valley, Glacier Gorge, Sunset Ridge, a floodlit Night Lights with a 270-degree kreisel, Blizzard Pass in falling snow and Aurora Summit under the northern lights - with time trials, ghost races against rival sleds, crystal runs, clean runs, checkpoint rushes and championships. Gauntlet: an endless generated track against a running clock, where the curves tighten, the ice gets faster and the walls get lower without limit. Championship: two or four heats against a field of seven sleds, total time deciding, a DNF in any heat meaning no result.
Four camera views: chase, behind the crew, the pilot's own eyes with the gloved hands on the steering rings, and a nose camera. Ten languages, keyboard and gamepad as well as touch. One self-contained file with no network requests of any kind, so it plays at altitude with no connectivity.
How to play
- Tap in time with the crew's footsteps to push: a tap as the ring closes drives them hardest. Two taps in one stride is a stumble.
- Tap in the load zone to jump in. Loading between 48 and 52 m is a perfect load; past 52 m the crew load late.
- Then press and drag left or right to steer, or use the arrow keys. In a curve the sled swings up the outer wall: steer early and gently to keep it on the line.
- Every steering input and every sideways skid costs speed. Clean curves build Flow, and Flow carries speed. Hit the lip hard and the sled rolls: a crash is a DNF.
- Levels: time trials, ghost races, crystals (gold ones are worth 3), clean runs, checkpoint rushes and championships. Total time decides a championship; a DNF in any heat means no result.
- Change the view with the camera button, the C key, or a gamepad's View button or D-pad up: chase, behind the crew, the pilot's eyes or the nose camera.
