About the game

Korea's favourite card game in 3D: match the months, collect Brights, birds and ribbons, and decide when to say Go or Stop, against cute animal opponents. Includes a hands-on tutorial in 12 languages.

Go-Stop (고스톱) is the classic Korean game played with Hwatu flower cards. Sit down on a woollen blanket in a hanok room with a tiger, a rabbit, a raccoon dog or a friendly fox, and play for points only (nothing is bet and nothing is won). Each turn you play one card and flip one from the stock, taking pairs that match by month. Collect Brights (광), animals (열끗), ribbons (띠) and junk (피) into scoring sets such as Godori and the red, blue and plain ribbons, then choose: Stop and win the hand, or Go for a bigger score and the risk that comes with it. Special moments have their own celebrations: 뻑, 따닥, 쪽, 쓸, 폭탄 and 흔들기. Seven interactive lessons teach the whole game by making you do each move, ending with a coached hand. A 9-stage campaign unlocks new animals, blankets and card backs, quick games let you pick the opponents' level (Rookie to Master), and the Rules screen offers the common house rules. Every card is drawn in code, every card lies flat on the blanket (the other players slide theirs out by hand), the view can be slid and zoomed, and everything works offline in 12 languages.

How to play

  1. 48 cards, 12 months of 4. Each card is a Bright (광), an Animal (열끗), a Ribbon (띠) or Junk (피). Two Junk cards count as two.
  2. Three players. Seven cards each, six on the floor, the rest face down as the stock.
  3. Play one card. If the floor has a card of the same month, take both. Then flip the top of the stock and match it the same way. With three of a month on the floor, playing the fourth takes all four.
  4. Three Brights 3 points (2 with the Rain Bright), four Brights 4, five 15. Godori (three birds) 5. Red, blue or plain ribbons, three of a kind, 3 each. Five Animals, five Ribbons or ten Junk: 1 point, plus 1 for each more.
  5. At 3 points you may Stop and win the hand, or Go to play on. Each Go raises the score: +1, +2, then it doubles.
  6. No Brights while the winner scored on Brights: x2. Very little junk while the winner scored on junk: x2. A Go caller who loses pays for both rivals.
