遊戲介紹
Shogi in 3D: hand-carved wedge pieces on a kaya board, twelve animal opponents on a ladder, four computer levels, handicap games, tsume puzzles, a 14-lesson tutorial and a game review.
Shogi (将棋), Japanese chess, is the game where the pieces you capture come over to your side. Play it at a tatami game table in a shoin room: boxwood wedge pieces with brush-written kanji, a thick kaya board, komadai piece stands, paper lamps and shoji screens.
Climb the Ladder through twelve animal opponents, from Kaede the Fawn to Meijin Shishi. Each has a name, a personality and a play style, and each win earns stars and unlocks new piece sets, boards and animals. Four computer levels (Rookie, Regular, Expert, Master) see exactly what you see, and the upper ones hunt for mates. Quick games offer a clock, take-backs, hints that explain the move, and handicap games from lance odds to ten pieces, given by the animal or by you.
Learn from scratch with fourteen interactive lessons: every piece, promotion, captures and drops, what may not be dropped (nifu, dead ends, uchifuzume), check and checkmate, repetition and the impasse, then a coached first game. Test yourself with machine-composed tsume puzzles of 1, 3, 5 and 7 moves that a solver has proved have exactly one winning first move (they are not classical named problems). Review marks every move after a game.
The whole board and both piece stands fit on screen at once, on a phone held upright or a seatback screen; orbit, pan and zoom whenever you like. Switch the pieces to English letters if the kanji are new to you. Twelve languages including Japanese, controller and keyboard support, and it all runs offline in one file.
玩法
- Checkmate the enemy king. A player with no legal move also loses.
- 9 by 9 squares and 40 wedge-shaped pieces. The three far ranks are the promotion zone. Sente (Black) moves first.
- King one step any way. Gold one step except diagonally back. Silver one step diagonally or straight forward. Knight jumps two forward and one aside. Lance slides forward. Pawn one step forward. Rook slides straight, bishop diagonally.
- Moving into, within, or out of the zone, a pawn, lance, knight, silver, bishop or rook may promote. Pawn, lance and knight must promote when they would have no move. Tokin and promoted lance, knight and silver move like gold. The horse (bishop) and dragon (rook) add king steps.
- Captured pieces are kept and can be dropped on any empty square instead of a move, unpromoted. Not allowed: two unpromoted pawns on a file, a piece that could never move, a pawn drop that mates.
- You may not leave your king attacked. Capturing a piece never ends the game; only checkmate does.
