About the game

Summon beasts onto a hex arena and fell the enemy Warden. Three Standards for the whole run.

Glyphbeast is a turn-based hex-tactics duel. Your Warden prints beasts onto a sixteen-column arena using plasm, and every beast acts once a round in initiative order. Ten species across seven clans each bring a passive and two active abilities — cleaving strikes, leaps that land on a cluster, frost that steals a turn, spores that punish anyone who closes. Plasm is the knot at the centre: it buys beasts, but it also powers the Warden's Aegis Field, so an army you cannot afford leaves your Warden bare. Fell the enemy Warden to take the battle and move up the gauntlet; lose yours and it costs one of three Standards for the entire run. A spatial Arena Editor lets you paint rubble, place defenders and play your own layout. Everything runs from a single file with no network access of any kind.

How to play

  1. Fell the enemy Warden. If yours falls you lose a Standard — three Standards for the whole run.
  2. Every unit acts once a round, fastest first. The turn order runs along the top.
  3. On your turn the glowing unit moves: tap a green hex. Each hex spends one movement point.
  4. Tap an ability, then a target. Abilities spend energy and work once per turn.
  5. Your Warden prints a beast for plasm equal to its level plus its size, once a turn, within four hexes. It acts from the next round.
  6. Plasm buys beasts and powers the Warden's Aegis Field, which soaks one hostile ability per point. Spend it all and your Warden stands bare.
  7. A fallen beast leaves a token. Walk over it to keep its bonus for good.
